Insta-Likes, ein gutes Essen oder Drogen – der menschliche Körper nimmt alle Arten des Vergnügens ähnlich wahr. Aber gibt uns deren Konsum wirklich, was wir suchen? Wenn die überzeugte Hedonistin und selbsternannte Hot-Mess Katy Baird im Vergnügen auf die Suche nach Befriedigung und Zugehörigkeit geht, lässt sie alle Hüllen fallen und überschreitet überzeugt jede Schamgrenze. Mit entwaffnender Ehrlichkeit ergründet sie ihre eigenen Abgründe und zeigt einen berührenden Abend über Freundschaft, das Älterwerden und darüber, wem wir welchen Spass zugestehen.

«Get off» ist die erste Zusammenarbeit der Schottin Baird und der belgischen Produktionsplattform CAMPO, die schon mit zahlreichen Produktionen bei auawirleben zu Gast war.

Katy Baird ist Künstlerin, Kuratorin und Produzentin von Live Art und lebt in Hastings, England. Als Künstlerin ist Baird auf Performance-Festivals und an Theatern in ganz Europa sowie auf Hausbesetzungspartys, in Clubs und auf Raves aufgetreten. Sie erarbeitete Auftragswerke u. a. vom Battersea Arts Centre, Wellcome Trust, The Yard Theatre, Camden People's Theatre und Duckie. Seit 2016 ist sie Artist in Residence bei der queeren Clubnacht Knickerbocker. Als Kuratorin gründete und koproduziert sie Steakhouse Live, eine Plattform in London für radikale Performance-Praktiken, und ist derzeit künstlerische Leiterin von Home Live Art, einem Live-Art-Veranstalter in Hastings.

Einfach gesagt

Katy möchte Spass haben und das Leben so geniessen, wie sie es gut findet. Aber die Gesellschaft hat ein Problem damit. In diesem Stück fragt sie sich, wieso das so ist und was man dagegen tun kann.

The human brain registers all pleasure in a similar way – be it a delicious meal, a sexual thrill, a recreational substance or those little hearts on Instagram... But just how good does all this consumption truly make us feel? Follow Katy Baird, dedicated hedonist and self-proclaimed hot-mess, as she unveils her journey into the pursuit of pleasure. Baird offers a raw and unfiltered insight into the human need for distraction, exploring the depths of our desires and questioning the autonomy we have in choosing where we seek it.

This performance is her first collaboration and the start of a longer trajectory with Belgian production house CAMPO which has toured many productions to auawirleben in the past.

Katy Baird is an artist, curator and producer of Live Art based in Hastings, East Sussex, England. As an artist Baird has performed at performance festivals and venues across Europe as well as squat parties, clubs and raves. She has received commissions from Battersea Arts Centre, Wellcome Trust, The Yard Theatre, Camden People’s Theatre and Duckie amongst others. Since 2016 she has been artist in residence at queer club night Knickerbocker. As a Curator she founded and co-produces Steakhouse Live, a DIY platform in London for radical performance practices and is currently Artistic Director of Home Live Art, producers of live events across Hastings.

Easy Read

Katy wants to have fun and enjoy life the way she likes it. But society has a problem with this. In this play, she asks herself why this is the case and what can be done about it.

auawirleben

Vom 7. bis 18. Mai geht die 43. Ausgabe von auawirleben über Berns Bühnen. Das internationale Theaterfestival bringt jeweils im Mai während 12 Tagen Theaterproduktionen aus der freien Szene und aus Stadt- und Staatstheatern nach Bern. Das Programm schliesst auch Installationen, Performance Art und aussergewöhnliche Formate, wie Game-Theater mit ein, und dieses Jahr zwei Dokumentarfilme. Das gesamte Programm läuft unter dem Titel «good on you!» und will Biografien abfeiern von Leuten, die allem zum trotz ihren eigenen Weg gehen.
