Vita Malahova «Mother of trash»
MOTHER OF TRASH is a mask solo performance about inherited waste, helplessness, and the search for strength through the Latvian folkloric figure Mēslu Bāba (Mother of Manure/Waste).
The work grows from my experience of inheriting a piece of land in Latvia where people had been dumping waste in the forest for around 20 years. Today, moss, trees and other vegetation cover much of what was left behind.
Inspired by Mēslu Bāba, a figure associated with waste and transformation, I use the act of cleaning as a physical and creative ritual. I want to challenge myself to work without spoken words, using only the body, sound and visual elements. The situation I am confronting has left me speechless, and I want this silence to become part of the work.
The performance combines a mask and costume created by me, movement and dance, and photo archives from the property projected through a slide projector.
Loredana D'Ambrosio «behind doors»
Behind Doors takes a look at hidden realities—at what we are not allowed to see or choose not to see. The piece explores how fragile and accidental it is which side of reality we find ourselves on.
Which parts remain hidden, and which ones come to light?
Moving along the edges of personal and social abysses, Behind Doors reflects on those who remain unseen—the ones who disappear within these hidden spaces. Through the encounter of different movement languages, the work creates a dynamic field of tension shaped by contrasts, friction, and transformation.
Throughout the research process, one question became increasingly central: What truly moves us?
The piece was originally performed as a trio, develops into a trio over the course of the performance, and will be presented as a duet tonight.
Enis Meta & Anne Sauvageot «Our distance brought us closer»
Our distance brought us closer is a performative collage exploring intimacy and distance between parents and children who no longer belong to the same social class. Drawing on our own biographies and numerous interviews, we show theatrical and physical forms to express the in-between: between our roots and new dreams, belonging and alienation.
We are planning a premiere in Bern next year and will use Szenefenster as an opportunity to try out initial scenes. Moving between storytelling and choreography, tenderness and absurdity, we ask how we can remain close to one another even when we no longer live in the same social world.
